BELLINI SUMMER 2008 - CATANIA

50 outdoor shows
between June and September

Four months of planning, about fifty different kinds of events including concerts, operas, ballets, film shows, cabaret, cafe-concert and aperitif concerts and the "jewels" of the winter program: PiccolaOpera , LiberoPalco , Theatre diversity. It's called " Bellini summer theater in 2008 " the summer season of the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, who started the ' June 11 and will end on September 13 . Two selected sites: the large square Vincenzo Bellini, right behind the facade of the theater, cinema and terrace Teatro Sangiorgi which reopens to the public after many years.

Programming, "Bellini summer theater 2008" will have some fixed points, appointments week to be held in June, July and September:

• 21 on Monday at the "Theater of diversity" in Piazza Bellini;
• on Tuesday, again in Piazza Bellini, "PiccolaOpera" or 20.30 "LiberoPalco" to 21.30;
• on Wednesday from 20.30-a concert aperitif on the terrace of the "Sangiorgi"
• on Thursday at 21 in the series of musical films of all time, always "Sangiorgi.

weekly appointments will be added to these other events:
Concert Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Massimo Bellini (June 19, 18 and July 25, Aug. 1, Sept. 13) with scheduled film music, the Italian song from the '60s to '80s, the Viennese waltz and operetta, to name a few. The work will take the stage open-air piazza Bellini's classic Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" on 28 and 30 June, and July 2. The ballet will be attended by companies from different experiences, but all very talented and first-rate, with appointments on July 6, Aug. 5, 3 and 5 September. On 10 September at 21 there will be cabaret, with the artists of Blue Cat led by Gino Astorina and their show "we can not complain."

There are also two meetings with the Theatre of Memory, in collaboration with the Association "Free" by Don Ciotti, to be held in conjunction with two symbolic dates for fighting the Mafia in Sicily: July 19, the anniversary of the massacre in via D'Amelio which killed Judge Paolo Borsellino and escort, with "the truth live" on July 28, the day of the killing of police commissioner Beppe Montana State, with "cop for love." To celebrate the middle of summer, there will be the "Great dancing under the stars" that will enliven the piazza Bellini evening of August 7. All performances are in Piazza Bellini with free admission, those in the "Sangiorgi" cost-concert aperitif € 8, € 3 movies.
